2-16 An Evening at Gala Tango

There were three things I wanted to do while in Buenos Aires:  see Recoleta Cemetery, see the painted houses, and see a tango show.  Tonight we can check off the tango show in grand style!

For those of you who aren't aware there is an online cruiser's community called Cruise Critic.  The website connects people who are on the same cruise where they share pre-cruise, post-cruise, and port plans, in addition to sharing lots of advice in a posting thread called "roll call".  Whenever we decide to take a longer cruise I check out the roll call and in the past, and this time, have joined others for port excursions, port transfers or anything related to the cruise.   On this cruise roll call I met up with a couple. Linda and Gordon from Toronto who, like us were heading to Argentina 5 days prior to the cruise.  They also wanted to do the same three things we did.  So over the past 9 months we've been communicating via e-mail to make arrangements for attending a Tango show and organize a side trip to the Falls.

After meeting Linda & Gordon briefly before our afternoon rest, we met up again at 6:30 to head over to Gala Tango for wine tasting prior to the show.  We were looking forward to the show, but didn't expect to be entertained the way we were.  After a very pleasant wine tasting, we were seated in a small, intimate venue for dinner.  Of course we had to have some Argentinian beef, which was quite good, as was the endless wine.  And then the show began.  All the dancing was beautifully performed by 3 very competent couples.  Between dances, or rather costume changes we were entertained  folklore performers - singers, gaucho bolas twirling, and charango (ukulele-like) playing.  It was fantastic, and entertain us they did for almost 2 hours.  Can you guess the final song performed!

The truth is.... we are exhausted!  So we head back to the hotel, and shortly thereafter, we happily crawl into bed looking forward to a good night's sleep.
