As expected, we're up early. But we're ready, so let's go. Last night, Anna and Brian left one of their cars at our house. So this morning, we packed up our luggage (yes, all 8 pieces) and headed over to their house where we spent a quick half hour with them before we headed off to the airport, where Anna dropped us off before she headed to work on the other side of the runway - at the SD Port Authority.
Once inside, we checked our baggage and presented all of our necessary documentation for international travel - passport and estimated date of return. Then we headed to the gate and waited for our 11am flight. We were a bit early, but that always beats being a bit late. But the flight was on time and before you knew it we were on our way to Atlanta - our first leg of travel.
I was able to upgrade to Economy Plus for a few Delta points. No biggie, but it does provide a bit of extra legroom and cocktails...not that we were going to drink a lot at 11 am. That being said, we still managed to down a few Bloody Mary's (Tony) and Cuba Libre's (Betty) before we landed four hours later in Atlanta.
So what did we do for the next four hours? After getting our bearings we decided instead of taking the train, we would walk from Concourse A to Terminal F, even though our international flight to Buenos Aires departed from Concourse E. We needed to stretch our legs before our next flight which was 10 hours long. So off we headed for a 1.5 mile hike. At Terminal F, we visited the Priority Pass Lounge, a perk with our Chase Reserve Credit Card. Being a Friday night, it was quite busy. But we were still able to grab a bite to eat. But it was just too crowded to relax, so we headed to our departure gate and waited another hour before we could board for our 10:30pm flight.

Atlanta Airport - OK, so we did use the moving walkways! |
Fast forward to 10:30 am, Buenos Aires time (+5 hours for SD, +3 hours for WI) we arrive in Argentina. Tony had pre-hired a taxi and fortunately, after 1.5 hours through immigration, the driver was waiting for us outside the baggage area. Later he told us he was about to leave, but when he called his supervisor, he was advised to wait a bit longer. Thank goodness. After being awake almost 24 hours, we didn't want to deal with the hassle of finding another driver to our hotel.
Finally, around 1 pm, tired and hungry, we are checked into our hotel. After settling in a bit, we decide to get a bite to eat at the hotel restaurant and then head back up to our room for a short rest. The day's not over. Tonight we're attending a wine tasting and Tango show at Gala Tango.
